Subject: RE: Update on RTC Services.

Dear All,

News is good but only for few people. I asked them to consider Satyam employees who are around 500 in number working in 3 diff offices in Hitec City. I will check if they are operating buses which I proposed as per the attachment. Route No.3 is very important and they have to consider.

Thank You.

Feeders and one way traffic at Hitec City

February 27, 2008

Here is the email from vijay  about the possibility of difficulty in feeder services at hitec-city  due to implementation of one way traffic.

Regards,

ananth

Hi,

As you are all aware, there is going to be one way traffic being implemented from tomorrow around cyberabad area. As a result of that, it will be not be possible for feeder services to come to HiTec City station tomorrow after 8 AM.

We have made a representation to the DCP reg. this, since most of the commuters travel between 8.45 and 10.30 AM and they need pick up services during that time.

Probably tomorrow, you might find it difficult to get the feeder services.

We will be meeting the DCP tomorrow reg. this to work out a solution to allow company cabs and RTC buses to ply upto HiTec City station.

Probably from Thursday, we could see some change in the stance of the police reg. this one way.  I will keep you posted on this.

Thanks

Vijay K

Points to ponder for SCR and APSRTC

February 6, 2007

Here is something the APSRTC and the SCR can ponder about in an effort to work together without stepping on each other’s shoes. The APSRTC ’s argument thats its monopoly will be challenged is weak for the following reasons.

  1. The fraction of land covered by rails is much less is comparison to the land covered by roadway.
  2. So, people will need a mode of transport to get to their destination, even if they disembark from the MMTS, and who else but the APSRTC will be major player.
  3. By the same argument, the fraction of its traffic lost by the RTC to the MMTS is very small.

The following points merit consideration.

1) Re-alignment of their operating network of bus routes to be orthogonal to the railway alignments. Ex. instead of working parallel on routes likes KCG - LPI, HYB - LPI the RTC could operate on routes that pick up and offload passengers at rail stations. ex. routes could be DSNR to Chaderghat/ Imlibun via Malakpet and back to DSNR . UPL to KCG and back. SC to JBS and back. RNG to JDM and back. JDM to Ammuguda via Alwal and Lal Bazaar. Lakdika pul to Gandipet via MP. Necklace Road circular service. FM to to RJNR via CRMR. Ring Road Service that creeps along the ring road. KPHB Phase IV ( Hitec City Station ) to KP. Miyapur to HCU via Hafeezpet. HCU to Jubilee Hills via Hitec City Station ( South ), Madhapur, Jubilee Hills Check post. There are many such possibilities, which simply need exploration.

Benefits: a) Safeguarding business interest of both parties.

b) Decongesting existing routes.

c) Explorig new service areas and options, deeper penetration into the suburbs.

d) Complementing each other’s services.

2) Reduction in bus size and increase in fleet size. The perceived benefits are :

  1. Reduction in bus size has potential to increase the opertional efficiency further.
  2. Increase in fleet size can be implemented with CNG/Electrically driven, smaller vehicles.
  3. Increase in fleet size can be implemented with CNG/Electrically driven, smaller vehicles.
  4. Decreased size reduces stress levels of the bus drivers and conductors.
  5. They are also easy to manouver in dense, heterogenous traffic, consequently decreasing turn around time and contributing to a steady frequency of operation.
  6. A Reduction in size allows increased flexibility in resource allocation and relief and emergency operations.
  7. The older, larger buses can be operated closer to the existing depots and for suburban services outward from the depot. The newer, smaller buses with design improvements such as CNG / Electric drive, Communication equipment for fleet management can be operated inside the city limits.
