I happen to see the tv 9 debate on metro rail on 22 july 08
good show.Mr Ramachandriah had presented his points clearly.
Ap Govt has to do lot of home work to counter metro critics

The amount of time wasted on travel is phenominal so we need much faster transport services.

MMTS is good but without dedicated tracks can it provide efficient, faster service to meet the growing demand
Govt should be transparent and justify the feasibilty and viabilty of the project

    Dear all,

The Hyderabad metro rail bids were opened yesterday (23rd). The consortium comprising Navabharat (Hyderabad)+ Maytas (Hyderabad)+Ital Thai (ITD, Thailand) + Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (IL&FS) is known to have bagged the contract though the official announcement has not yet been made. The cost of the project has meanwhile been revised to about Rs. 12000 crores

We protested in front of the metro rail bhavan in the morning against the bids-opening.

In view of the changed situation, it is decided that we should cancel/postpone the proposed public hearing on Saturday, the 26th since it may not serve any additional purpose at this stage. When the 26th programme was decided, the bids-opening date was not known.

In consultation with our advocate, we will chart out the next course of action which will be informed to you. We thank you all for the support and sorry for the inconvenience due to your blocking of the date or rescheduling of your activities.

    Best regards,

    Rama
